WATER TRANSMISSION MAIN
The Williamstown Borough Authority replaced the water transmission main that runs from the reservoir to the water plant. The construction bid was awarded to Mazzuca Enterprises, Inc. and the bid for supply of materials was awarded to L/B Water Service, Inc. Construction has been completed and the new line is in service. This project will be mostly funded by Dauphin County Commissioners which have awarded the Williamstown Borough Authority a Community Development Block Grant of $325,000.00 to replace the main. The Authority has budgeted $20,000.00 for engineering cost which is not covered by the grant. This project was finished under budget and we were able to add an additional 640' of main replacement below the plant going towards Williamstown.
The Authority was awarded a grant of $190,000.00 by the Dauphin County Commissioners to finish the water transmission main from were we stopped below the plant over to Market St, which includes a boring under the Wiconisco Creek. This project should be constructed during the summer or 2008.
CELL TOWER
The Authority has entered into a contract with Cingular Wireless to rent land for a Cellular Tower to be located below the Authority's tank above the Laurel Hills Housing Project. The tower is complete and in OPERATION. The income from the cell tower is $800.00 per month or about the same income as raising every water customer's bill about $2.50 per quarter.

STAND-BY POWER
With the increasing occurrence of power outages the Water Authority has decided to add a stand-by generator at the water plant. Bids were opened on December 17, 2003 add the purchase of the generator and automatic switch have been awarded. The generator installation is complete and the generator is operational. The water plant will now continue to operate during a ppl power outage.

Plant Tours
The Authority does offer tours of
the water plant to groups such as, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, school groups,
church groups, etc., or individual tours if you would just like to
see the plant yourself. Just call John at 647-4466
